As of 6/15: 35-29, 1st NL Central
Previous Game: Brewers 14, Indians 12
Monday night the Brewers won a battle of the offenses in Cleveland as the two teams combined to score a total of 26 runs. That’s tied for the second most this year by two teams. And All time the Brewers improved to 2-81 all time in games they have given up 12 runs in.
Speaking of giving up a lot of runs, Dave Bush is the feature pitcher in a recent article by the sporting news. Bush is giving up a ton of home runs this season, only making it one start without one, and it’s starting to severely hurt the team. Read the list.
On another note from Monday’s game, it marked the 20th anniversary of the movie Major League, in which Bob Uecker called the games for the fictional Cleveland Indians team. Uecker stated that Charlie Sheen, who played Rick “Wild Thing” Vaughn can actually pitch a decent fastball. Uecker also admitted that he’s never seen the movie from start to finish. He’s surprised it turned out to be such a cult classic! Read a bit here.
To celebrate the anniversary, the Cleveland Indians released a Rick Vaughn bobblehead to the fans. What do you think? Rick Vaughn then vs bobblehead Rick Vaughn now? Check this out.
And it has come to my attention that as least one person thinks that the Brewers should trade Prince Fielder now that he’s doing so well before the Brewers can no longer sign him. Read that at the Bleacher Report.
While another fan, also at the Bleacher Report, blogs that the Brewers should give Prince a contract now. I’m with this fan, as I think that the Brewers should keep the major talent they have. But read this blog here.
Sure, now that Prince Fielder leads all of baseball in RBI’s, the big trade-or-sign talk begins. Ryan Braun is also currently sixth in the NL in RBI’s after the two sluggers had a monster game last night.
And continuing with trade talk, and free agent talk and pitching talk, Right Field Bleachers lists the options to pick up a pitcher for the Brewers. Take a look here
In a head-scratchingly interesting article, Andrew Wagner of OnMilwaukee.com seems to think that even with the way the Brewers starters have been struggling….ALL of them… Milwaukee is in no need of a fifth starter. Not that the Brewers have been getting any decent use of the four starters they currently rotate, but you can try to make something of it!
In the All Star Voting world, the Brewers continue to drop down the charts, and Braun is the only one in a starting spot right now as he is second at the NL outfielder position. Check it out.
And here are a bunch of articles! I know you want more to read. Starting with the Bleacher Reports flaws of the NL Central, The Sporting News hating of J.J. Hardy and his slump, an article demanding the Brewers get a little respect around this league and a little nugget on Yovani Gallardo being a high energy player! Take care and go Brewers!
